Wotcher! I'm back! Well technically I've been back since Sunday night, but everything's been a bit mental since then so I've not had time to post.
This post has the potential to be a bit massive, so I'll try and get through it as quickly as possible.
I had my emotional goodbye with my laptop on Tuesday night, set my alarm for half six in the morning and went to sleep, rising bright and early five and a half hours later. Off to my mum's to collect my tickets (she has to look after them or I have a real chance of losing them) and then up to Stapenhill to fetch Day and meet the boys for breakfast. We pulled up to Donington at about nine, and only had to wait till half eleven to be let in. I swear I was already tipsy by the time I put my tent up! Dan phoned at half six, and came to meet me - me having already explained to Day (using Twilight for my description) that I had actually
'imprinted', which he thought was hilarious.
I won't treat you to all the gory details, but will say, ecstatically that Dan and I are officially a couple and I couldn't be happier at this moment about it! It turns out he's been after me for about a year, it's just I was too wrapped up in Avenged to realise it, which maked me kind of sad, because I could have felt this amazing so much earlier...
I digress..
Fast forwarding to the first day of the festival, we trot down to the stages, Kev having a minor temper tantrum because I'm forcing everyone I'm with to watch
Hollywood Undead. Kev is (if I'm honest) a bit of a conceited snob when it comes to music, basically if you don't like the bands he likes then your taste is shite. I slip into la-la land when he starts talking about music, it's a defense mechanism, otherwise I'd punch him! Anyway,
Hollywood Undead were absolutely stunning, and went down well with the whole crowd, which kind of surprised me, because they're so different to the rest of the bands at the festival. They took their masks off halfway through the set which confused me, but also made me happy, because one of them is properly cute!
After that came the wait for the mighty
Limp Bizkit a band I've been in love with for almost as long as I can remember. Day, Tiv and I crept our way into the crowd while the previous band (
Killswitch Engage - Yay for Howard!) finished and got almost to the front. When
LB came out the whole fucking place went up, it's been six years since they played the UK and you could feel how overjoyed everyone in that arena was to have them back! They placed the classics, got two guys up from the crowd to meet them onstage, I broke my belt in the mosh, almost had my hair torn out and lost at least one layer of skin off my shins... and
I LOVED EVERY FUCKING SECOND OF IT!!
Other bands that day included
Korn and
Faith No More. I can't say I was overly impressed with the latter, I never really got into their music and by the time they came on I was really cold and achey, so we waited for
'Epic', which is one of only two songs I know and then went back to camp.
Saturday was biggie day, loads of bands I wanted to see, culminating in the arrival of
Slipknot to the stage as headliners. Got down to the main stage in time for
Five Finger Death Punch who were really good, then
DevilDriver and
Hatebreed although we left halfway through their set because I wanted to see
Fightstar on the second stage. Gosh I love Charlie's eyebrows, it's almost wrong! Then came the most terrifying moment of the weekend, I nipped to the toilet and when I came back a swarm of fucking
BEES had descended on the crowd. I just stood there and stared, thinking
'There's no fucking way I'm going in there!' Day had to come and get me, promising they wouldn't sting because they were moving from one place to another. It was crazy!!

We watched
Static-X and then went for a wander, taking in some
DragonForce who were, quite honestly, disappointing and then
Pendulum who were absolutely amazing. I have to remember to put more of their stuff on my ipod because I was really
really impressed!
So we had this idea, to go and watch
The Prodigy and then swing back to the main stage for the end of
Slipknot's set. But when we got to the second stage the sound wasn't so good, and I kept staring forlornly at the main stage while they built it up for Corey and Co. I don't know, it suddenly felt wrong for me
not to be watching that band... so we went back, and I got really far into the crowd, right beside the circle pits, and it fucking owned!!!
Slipknot were easily the best band of the whole weekend, they were note and word perfect, Corey was fantastic! He even made me cry when he was talking about how they've been around for over ten years (2009 is the ten year anniversary of their debut album release) and how the band have so much love for the fans who have stuck with them - of which I am one of them. I lost my voice I was screaming so loud and long, singing to every song! When they played
'Spit It Out' everyone got on the floor for the 'Jump the fuck up!' part and Corey got emotional too! I was stupidly buzzing when they finished and had to walk back to camp by myself because I'd lost everyone in the crowd.
Saturday night was also the night we got Kev paraletic on unknown spirits. For some reason we started playing
Mallet's Mallet (only without the bonking someone over the head, our forfeit was to drink something which tasted like acid mixed with paint thinner). Trouble is, my mates are mean fuckers, so when it got past me to Day, he'd throw in a word from his girlfriend's doctor training and Kev just got more and more wasted. He even took on Steg in a one-on-one and tried to use the word 'porn' three times in the same run. So being the nice people we are, we decided to take him to the funfair in the village to see if we could make him puke! This was after he'd needed three people to take him to the toilet - where he asked other people at the urinals to dance! *Shakes head*
So Steg took him on the dodgems, Day took him into the fun house and Tiv took him on something which looked like it would feel like being in a blender. Still no pukage, so on the way back to the camp we tried to trade him for another guy who'd been wrapped in duct tape by his 'mates' and had a bottle of cider strapped to his hand. [Un]Fortunately for us, they kept their own friend so we took Kev back and had to lure him back into his tent with a can of Strongbow!!
Sunday was pretty boring, we didn't even go to the arena until about four and I only wanted to see
Papa Roach all day. I was pretty miserable that day anyway, Dan had left my tent that morning and I knew I wouldn't see him all day because both our phones were dead :( Thankfully Jacoby didn't disappoint and I sang my way through their set fairly happily, glad to hear him say (again) that they'd be back in October, so that'll be three times this year!
We went home after that, we could have stayed another night (and I considered going back after dropping Day back home but I couldn't be bothered dealing with the traffic on Monday). Got into my house at about half ten, housemates pleased to see me, I was pleased to see my bed and swiftly fell unconscious.
To anyone else who went, I hope you had as amazing a time as I did and if you watched the bands I did then thank you, you all showed them the love and respect they deserve.
Roll on Sonisphere!!
